For every season… there is a wreath! Or, at least, there was supposed to be a wreath. Summer slid on by on many fronts, and the wreath front was not excluded. But it’s Labor Day, which means it’s fall, which means it’s wreath time! I was inspired by Mandy over at Harpers Happenings (um Harper? SO CUTE!) to create a Yarn Wreath for Fall. Apparently all the bloggers were doing it this spring, which is why I, in 2011 style, decided to do it six months later. JoAnns suffered from a bit of a lack of imagination in the felt color department, but I think I picked out a few fall-ish colors, and a nice yarn base that can be easily accented with different colors for different seasons (silver and white = holiday, pretty pinks for spring). The best part about this project? Next to no supplies, no mess and one Sunday night in front of the TV.
Lots of people have done wonderful tutorials on it if you want the nitty gritty details, but the basic gist is this:
1. Wrap yarn around a styrofoam wreath. Wrap it any old way, don’t worry about lining it up.
2. Cut out pretty shapes with felt.
3. Pin your shapes onto your wreath with floral pins.
4. Hang it up. Extra lazy bonus points = you don’t even have to make a hanger on the wreath – the yarn loops on the back work out just fine.
That’s my kind of craft project.

Pretty darn cute…..I just put up my traditional autumn leaf on grapevine…but since the temperature dropped 20 degrees since yesterday…I’m feeling autumnal:)
You have no idea how perfect the timing of this post is. I just went to Pier One, Target, Ace Hardware and Crate and Barrel’s site and found NO wreaths I liked. This is so simple and classic, and there are NO plastic flowers. Winning!
